During the 31 day solo bike trip across New Zealand, I totally Nomaded it and stayed in a number of places. I didn’t make any plans on where to stay or stop for the night. I had loose goals each day. Some mornings I made a reservation at a campground or backpacker (hostel). Some nights I just rolled in. I really winged most of it and it paid off.

Starting my trip off, I had the privileged to stay on a friend of a friends sail boat in the Auckland Harbor.  Now that’s how you kick off an adventure.

For 15 of the 30 nights, I stayed in my Big Agnes tent, which I preferred. I slept on the beach, in the mountains, in the woods, in town, and....

Under deadly trees!!!!

Due to the rain and exhaustion, I also slept in a caravan, shared a room with 3 tourists from London and Sweden, a community hall.....

…..a shipping container converted to a cabin....

…shared a room in a fishing cabin with an older fisherman.....

The toilet in out cabin, don’t think it was ladies only.

No matter where I laid my head down each night I was grateful for a safe (ish) place to stay.

Thank you to the many kind strangers and new friends who took me in. New Zealand is full of kindness and love.
